I was going to try and present Jo and Kelly’s henna ceremony and their traditional Indian ceremony together as one blog post, but it’s not going to happen. With so many wonderful moments of these two very special days, Jo and Kelly’s wedding blog post is going to be split into 3 posts with the first being their henna ceremony.

I’m not going to say much about this part of the blog post other than to say that it was a tremendous honor to be part of Jo and Kelly’s wedding festivities. Not only did we get to photograph some amazing details, but being able to participate in our first Indian wedding was well, nothing short of amazing! From Kelly’s gorgeous traditional Indian gown to the wonderful traditions of their Indian ceremony….the two days we got to spend with Kelly and Jo and their friends and families was unforgetable.

So this post covers the first part of their first day: the traditional henna ceremony. The henna artist was brought in from the East coast and did she do an amazing job! Even the kids received some beautiful henna artwork. And Kelly had her hands and feet bandaged so that the henna wouldn’t smudge for her wedding day…..and the end result was well worth it. Rene and I are always looking at art, listening to new music, traveling, reading good magazines and books (yes, the ones made out of paper), studying the web, learning about new cultures and going on new culinary adventures. Creative inspiration is everywhere around us! In the smallest leaf. In the darkest storm cloud. In the beautiful design of a couch or the genius of a symphony.

All we have to do is open our eyes and ears and nose. Nature. Architecture. Music. Design. Art. It’s an abundant source of inspiration for any discipline…..and while we have a wealth of resources to turn to, our best work, for us, comes from the people that we photograph. Our clients often times provide us with the best inspiration and creative mojo!

Kristen, John and their families gave us TONS and TONS of that delicious creative mojo! From the wonderful chemistry between John and Kristen to the wonderful way Kristen’s parents made us feel like we were one of her own kids. Every step of the way we felt like part of their family and not just a hired hand.

Photography is an artform very special for both John and Kristen and their families. They value this artform and understand, that in the end, after the cake is eaten, the flowers die and the gown is put away, what we have left of special moments are our memories and our photographs.

Thank you to John and Kirsten and their parents and friends and families for the wonderful gift of inspiration and creativity they imparted to us. And for reminding us just why we love what we do and why photography is such an important part of all of our lives.

Pete and Norell had a great blend of modern, classic, Old Naples and romance through all the different parts of their wedding day. We started the day at the Naples Beach Club….getting ready there early in the day, doing a first look and getting those classic beach formals. Norell and Pete also had their rehearsal dinner at the Beach Club the night before. You can’t get any more historical here in Naples than the Naples Beach Hotel. Both Rene and I can remember the Beach Club since we were little kids…..and it’s been a favorite spot of ours for years….and one of the spots we always bring our out-of-town guests to for sunset watching!

Pete and Norell’s Greek wedding ceremony, held at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, was steeped in tradition and full of family, great friends and lots and lots of love! This was our first Greek wedding and it was beautiful. The love in that church was undeniable….

And the day’s festivities ended at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club. Miromar is a hidden gem here in Southwest Florida! If you want modern, different and a sunset to boot, definitely check out Miromar. I love, love, love the interior design. And the outside is a throwback to a bit of old Spanish monastery. Romantic, classic and modern all rolled up into one!

It doesn’t always happen to all of us…..for whatever reason some people drift through life and never get a chance to meet that other person that is a true match in spirit, personality, energy, love, passion and life!

But when you meet two people that are a true match…..you can see it. You can feel it. It’s unmistakable!

It’s in the air around them. It’s in the people that come together to share their day with them. It’s in the little details they do for one another and the things they say to each other. It’s in the way they look at each other.

We’ve seen a lot of weddings in our career…..and it’s always those days where true love is in the air that are truly electrifying for us. That energy is catchy and you can’t help but smile all day as you work alongside two people who truly belong together…..and Jill and Toby are one of those matches that are just meant to be.

And as if shooting two people who are truly in love, with amazing friends and family around them wasn’t great enough…..but getting to shoot at the Naples Grand is always a special treat. Rene and I are big fans of modern design , be it graphic or print and most definitely big fans of interior design…..so using the ultra-modern interior design of the Naples Grande in our work is always an inspiration in and of itself.

Thank you to Jill and Toby for letting us be a part of such a beautiful day. It was an honor for us to be selected to record such an important event and we both hope that these images will bring a lifetime of memories and tug at your hearts each time you look at them.

Amberly and David totally rocked it (just look at how beautifully expressive Amberly is)….and even though I say this often, they made our work so easy!

Being in love, funny, quirky and totally into each other and their families makes for great pictures. And having the Quarry as a backdrop doesn’t hurt, either! I’m a real texture hound and I loved all the stone textures everywhere and the staff was very accommodating…….enjoy and congrats Amberly and David!

I can’t believe that another year is here…our third official year in business is over and we embark on a new year of living, loving and creating art!

I went back today and re-read my December/New Year post for 2009 and so much of it rings true now a year later. We are so thankful for a year full of wonderful clients who trusted us with one of their most important days in their lives. We are thankful for having wonderful friends in the industry who are always ready to lend a hand, ear or shoulder or lens if need be! And of course, we are most thankful for our mothers, family, our children and each other. Life really is only as good as the people you have in it…..and our life is rich, rich, rich.

So we just wanted to send a big heartfelt thank you to all of our family, friends old and new and to our dear clients. Thank all of you for inspiring us, challenging us, supporting us and being in our lives! We wish all of you a prosperous, healthy, happy and successful 2011!
