wedcomp competition
I am always entering photography contests (have been since high school)! I’ve won a few and lost a lot!
But it’s always great fun and it keeps me on my toes and the competitive edge is invigorating!
Well, a few weeks ago I received an email blast that included information from David Beckstead, “one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world” according to American Photo Magazine. In that email, there was information about this competition, which I will get to in just a bit. But for those of you who enter print competitions, David wrote an excellent article about print competition over on Photo Lovecat’s blog, check it out! David was one of the judges for >WPPI’s print competition and the article talks about the finer points of print competition. There is certainly more to print competition than just entering a strong print, and for those you that enter print competitions, this article is a must-read!
Back to the Wedcomp Competition! It just so happens to be that David is also a judge for this competition, along with Susan Stripling (out of Florida!), Brooks Whittington, and >Garrett Nudd. So these are definitely some talented photographers who will be judging the entries!
But the best part of this competition is that instead of the judges receiving monetary compensation for their time, WedComp will be donating a significant portion of the proceeds to Thirst Relief International in their honor. Thirst Relief’s mission is to combat and end death and disease resulting from the consumption of contaminated drinking water by providing pure water to those in need around the world.
So along with entering a great competition and having your work judged by some of the very best talent out there, a portion of your entry will do some good for others as well. Make sure to enter! You can find out more about the competition by clicking the banner below. And if you blog about the competition, you can receive free credits for entries.
Best of luck in the competition!
