Naples Depot – Lionel Train Museum
On the quest for another perfect day…and we found one last Friday!
It’s just that kind of perfect day that happens with little or no planning (these are always the very best perfect days)! This perfect day had no school, lots of time to kill and happy babies and pre-schoolers! So the three of us met up with Jordan and his cool mom, Karen at the Lionel Train Museum at the Naples Depot.
I’ve been living in Naples since I was four. Of course, my wanderlust has taken me far from Naples to places like New Orleans, St. Petersburg and Sarasota, but we always come back! And in all that time, I never knew about the totally cool train museum until Jordan’s mom invited us to come along.

Helena loved the weather that day…it was cool, for Florida anyway. The sky looked like a jewel and the air was crisp. I wish all days were like that day….

The museum grounds includes an original 1909 Soo Line Caboose and 1947 Club Car. One of these cars houses a gift shop. We haven’t actually ever gone in, but I’m sure they have some neat stuff.

One of Ali and Jordan’s favorite things to do here of course is ride the scale train. Pretty patient waiting, huh!

Here’s one of the trains you can ride…..Jordan usually has to ride by himself since I have to carry Helena and Ali sits with Jordan’s mom. The train goes around the depot twice and runs right along US41 traffic. And of course, we are usually moving faster than traffic!

Helena is at that age where everything she sees is magical, shiny, new and definitely worth putting in her mouth. She leaves no stone unturned!

Inside is a great multi-level Lionel train display in action. The detail is amazing and there are all sorts of buttons to push to make things happen. There are lights, airplanes, rides, people working, trains zooming by, animals, cars, music….the detail is really incredible.

Another perfect day……Astrid
